Sure, it may seem like all meat pics and cocktails all the time, but there is a fine balance that one has to meet in one’s life, and that is the balance of health.
Great piece and one which I have hoped to see for some time. It is encouraging to see that you maintain a good balance and are willing to share your personal health journey.
One thing we can certainly control in these uncertain times is our diet and health regimen. Preach.
As Covid took hold around the globe, I took the major step to cut out booze. Two years later (!) and I can see what a game changer this was for me. Other’s mileage, as always, may vary.
I agree that it’s all a balance, with moderation serving as north on the compass. Over time, I slowly discovered it’s the same with style, and most other aspects of the life well lived.
Matt, thanks for sharing this. I know I see your life on Instagram, etc. and think it's all Negronis, sausages, and gin. It's a good reminder that those things need balance. I've definitely lost my way on this during the pandemic and needed the reminder.
Would have had a very similar regime pre covid. Identical to be honest. However it slipped in 2020 and an injury in 2021 which necessitated no running combined with bad diet has led to significant weight gain. Super and timely read to help refocus at the beginning of a new year…. Thanks Matt
I've followed your suggestion and added prescription meds to my Dop kit - antibiotics, a steroid and a pain med. I got them today from my Dr during my annual physical. It really sucks to get sick while traveling overseas and trying to find even familiar OTC meds. Thanks Matt.
Nice piece Matt. As a regular reader of your website and socials (and a few interviews too) it's no surprise that there's an exercise flipside to the meat-and-cocktails lifestyle. Yet I was interested to see that you have an annual medical, and that's something I think every man (in particular) over the age of 40 should have in the calendar.
The body changes, and unfortunately we fellas are very susceptible to things like heart disease, high blood pressure and all those other unsexy silent killers. It's so important to have that stuff checked.

Cheers and Happy Anniversary/New Year!

Love to see the combo of pleasure & discipline on display. Thanks for the write-up.
I think user error at hand but how can I see the 11min workout in detail…seems first min all that is here?
