I've had the privilege of attending several debutante balls in New Orleans which are white tie. It is definitely something very special and fun. I ended up just renting each time I attended, though I do have the dream of assembling my own rig even though the likelihood of getting to use it is practically nil at this point.
Years ago I having a nightcap in the Sacher Hotel bar with my wife and my sister after a red eye flight from Houston and an afternoon of sightseeing (& no shower). Suddenly the place filled up with people in white tie and ball gowns. We felt underdressed.
Absolutely priceless narrative. « All of that stressful dressing required a cocktail. » indeed !!! Well done
Lovely story Matt, although it sounds like you had a stressful time to get it all ready. Happy to have been able to help!!
An exhausting, anxiety-fueled saga, but glad it all came together!
Looking forward to reading about the first pocket watch purchase down the road as well!

Complete madness. I love it.
Such an engaging and sophisticated tale - loved all the details and am now desperate to attend a ball myself!
Glad you pulled it off. Sounds exhausting!
It took me the better part of 6 months to pull my bargain hunting Vienna white tie “full fig” together…I still dropped just north of a $1000.
Now I’m much thinner and need to restock!
It’s remarkable that you pulled it all together as you did!
Well done and maybe see you in Wien next year!

This felt like a Safdie film. So much pressure and anxiety. Such a fascinating setting
Excellent!
