Winter Skincare from Head to Toe
Advice from the experts that goes deep–from layering serums to keeping your scalp moisturized, plus an exfoliating debate

Winter is hard on the skin, especially for those of us who live in extremely cold weather climates. I have my own routines and products (I always say I’m the most moisturized guy at the hunting camp) but I always think it’s important to see what I could be doing better, and what new products/fixes there are out there. It’s also the time of year when I’m spending more time indoors, and thinking about things like masks, exfoliating, or maybe getting some red spots on my face zapped off because I don’t have to worry about much sun exposure.
To that end, I called up some experts who also happen to be friends, who are well-qualified to speak on the subject: Dr. Lance H. Brown, who in addition to being my dermatologist is a clinical assistant professor of dermatology at NYU School of Medicine; Dangene Enterprise, founder of New York’s cutting-edge dangene medical spa, who I’ve known for over 20 years–she transformed Yolanda’s skin, and I’ve been lucky enough to see her several times over the years; and my friend Alexander Werz, who in addition to being the CEO of the pr firm Karlo Otto, recently launched his own science-supported supplement and skincare line, AWvi. I have to say, I learned a lot from their answers below! Lots of tips that don’t require spending money , some great inexpensive pharmacy products, and anti-aging treatments that are worth the investment.
