Even when I travel to the most favorite food countries like Italy and France, I will typically order a club sandwich after a late boozy night or on a jet lagged evening for room service. There’s something particularly comforting, familiar, and reassuring about a club sandwich. This is coming from someone who grew up with a classic American diner in the family and identifies deeply with the club. But somehow I think the best club sandwiches I’ve ever eaten are on foreign soil.
