I’m rolling out another edition of our seasonal kit list, with the post-holiday depths of winter as the topic, focusing on functionality above all else. We’ll be covering necessities like merino long underwear, ultra-insulating down jackets and the gloves that allow me to grill outdoors in January. But because pure practicality only gets you so far, there’s also thorough exploration of all the classically inspired overcoats, rustic tweeds and Scottish knitwear that spark some joy when winter begins to feel like a slog.
