An Updated Negroni Black Book
Which loosely translates into--favorite places to go when I travel—from Italy (obviously) to Colombia, and a whole lot in between
Most of you know that my wife Yolanda has a travel magazine, Yolo Journal, and a weekly travel newsletter. So whenever anyone sends me a DM asking about hotels in Paris, London restaurants, or shopping in Rome, I send them her way. But when it comes down to bars, this is my thing. I did a Negroni Black Book a couple of years ago—inspired in part by the listings I put together in the back of my Negroni book. But since then, I’ve amassed a lot more, and felt it was time to update it, especially since we’re entering major travel season. Consider this your very tightly edited, uber niche, travel guide—ports in the storm if you will. Now of course, pretty much anywhere in Italy, particularly at any good hotel bar, you can get a good classic Negroni. But you roll the dice with smaller hotels in Italy. I was at one (to which I will never return!) that did not even have Campari—so I ran out to buy some to make drinks for myself and other guests.
